Bere Regis Colts Fixtures 2009-10

21 February 2010 – Bere Regis 0 Sturminster Newton 2

This was the last game of the season for the team, and they finished the season with one of their best performances despite losing 2-0 against a side who I am sure will win the league (they are currently 2 points behind the first placed team with 2 games in hand).

The game started well for Bere, creating a few good chances from some great football by Brad “Torres” Moss and Ellis “Gerrard” Thorpe – each of them having shots that made the Stur goalkeeper work very hard to keep his side in the game. And at the back Alex “JT” Moore and Jacob “Rio” White defending very well and looking unbreakable. The only real scare of the first half was when Jacob “Ginola” Kennard cleared a shot off the line following a corner. In the final moment of the first half Brad Moss looked like he had scored after a good chip over the goalkeeper but only to have the ball cleared of the line by a Stur defender. The first half ended 0-0.

The second half started much the same as the first with both teams playing some lovely football (on a very wet and sticky pitch). Stur did manage to break the Bere rearguard 10 minutes into the half after a free kick hit the under side of the cross bar and went in despite Jacob White’s best efforts to clear it. Bere didn’t let their heads drop and kept creating chances through Brad and Ellis’ good work up front, with Ellis grazing the out of the post. Stur scored their second goal with 10 minutes left from a well created team goal. In the last 10 minutes Bere continued to push but were unable to score.

Despite losing the game 2-0 Bere gave the best team in the league a real scare.

The team a currently 7th in the Dorset under 11 Mini-soccer league.

Man of the Match: Ellis Thorpe (the midfielder had a great game and came so close to scoring).

Watch out for my season review coming shortly.

24-01-2010 – Bere Regis 3 Ringwood Town 2

After an impressive team performance last week against Poole Town, Bere headed into the game with plenty of confidence.

Their confidence was transformed into a very impressive first half display with Brad “Torres” Moss score from a good pass for Jacob Kennard after 40 seconds. After that the Bere lads controlled the first half and created a few good chances and with a very solid performance from Jacob “twice the size of most of the Ringwood players” White at centre back stopping any Ringwood players really get a shot on target. After about 10 minutes Jacob Kennard score with a very neat finish passed the Ringwood goalkeeper. Jacob Kennard then score a second soon after with another well taken goal. This all meant that Bere had a 3-0 lead at half time.

After a couple of positional changes at half time, Ringwood came out in the second half all guns blazing and created a least 5 good chances in the first 10 minutes. Bere did eventually managed to come to terms with the changes however the Ringwood pressure paid off with them scoring two quick goals, leaving the score at 3-2 with about 10 minutes to go. The last 10 minutes consisted of all the Bere team defending very bravely and when the final whilst went the Bere boys had held on to win the game 3-2 and claim their third win of the season. Well done boys!!!

Bere Regis are currently 7th in the table with 10 points.

Goals: Brad Moss, Jacob Kennard x2

Man of Match – Jacob White (Jacob put on a defending clinic in the first half and also produced some curial saves when he was in goal in the second half)

17-01-2010

Under 11’s - Poole Town 1 Bere Regis 0

Welcome back. An away game against the team currently top of league after not playing and training since mid December wasn’t one we were looking forward to. However a great team performance meant the boys could walk away from the game with their heads held high.

The game started with Poole Town on top and creating a number of chances and after 15 minutes they took the lead with a well worked goal cutting the Bere defence in half. The first half pattern didn’t really change and only for the great defending and a few good saves by first half goalkeeper Jacob “safe hands” White kept the score 1-0 at half time.

The second half was slightly different with Jacob White moving to centre back freeing up Matt “team captain” Miller to push into midfield meant Bere created a few chances and at the same time we kept Poole Town to a few long rang shots and a few corners. Bere had once great chance to score late on when a Jacob “Carrick” Kennard corner was met by the head of Jacob “Vidic” White which was cleared off the line.

A great performance from Bere especially considering we haven’t trained for a month. A great improvement from the 9-1 defeat earlier in the season.

Man of the Match: Ellis Thorpe (playing out of position at centre back, Ellis was the stand out player, never giving up and was all ways in the right place at the right time).

13/12/2009 Under 11’s – Longfleet 7 Bere Regis 4

Well this was a great game for the natural with goals galore.

Bere travelled to Ferndown with only the bare 7 players meaning we had no subs. The game started well with Bere creating a few early chances and also defending well. However it was Longfleet that scored first after an error from the defence. But straight from the re-start Bere equalised via a good finish from Brad “found my shooting boots” Moss. The rest of the half is one Bere may need to forget as defensive error’s gifted Longfleet 3 goals and on the stroke of half time a great volley from outside the box gave Longfleet a 5-1 lead at half time.

After a stern half-time team talk, the Bere boys came flying out in the second half scoring two goals in the first 5 minutes, one from Brad Moss and one from Jacob Kennard, meaning Bere had pulled the score back to 5-3. Bere continued to create chances but tiredness was beginning to tale. A great individual goal from a Longfleet player gave them a 3 goal lead. With about 10 minutes to go Luke Selby-Grace scored is first goal for the club with tap in after a goal mouth scramble. That left the score 6-4 with about 8 minutes left. Longfleet did score one more goal before the final whistle via an unfortunate own goal. The final whistle went and Bere had lost a trilling game 7-4. If they show the same great attitude and performances that we saw today then another win against local rivals Milborne Sports in their next game on the 10th January could be on the cards.

Goal Scorers: Brad Moss x2, Jacob Kennard and Luke Selby-Grace
Man of the Match: Brad Moss (striker finish both his goals well and work hard all game).

06/12/09 - Under 11’s Bere Regis 1 Dorchester Town 2

This was always going to be a tough afternoon against one of the top three teams in the league and also the fact they hammered us 9-0 in Dorchester at the start of the season. However as the season has progressed we have greatly improved as a team and gave Dorchester a run for there money. The first 10 minutes of the first half started very well for Dorchester as they controlled the game and created a number chances that were close to scoring the first goal of the game but a couple of great saves for Jacob “Van Der Sar” White and good defending from a new defensive pairing of Alex “JT” Moore and Ellis Thorpe held firm. It was in fact Bere who took the led when a long goal kick from Jacob “Messi” Kennard flew into the net after some miss-communication by the Dorchester defence and goal keeper. Dorchester did mange to score 10 minutes later from the penalty spot after the Bere goalkeeper brought down a Dorchester player in the box. Meaning the score was 1-1. Five minutes before half-time Dorchester had another penalty however this was brilliantly saved by Jacob White is goal. Leaving the half time score 1-1.

The second half started like the first with Dorchester on top creating a few chances which were either saved well by Luke Selby-Grace (who was in goal for the second half) or by the defending pair of Alex Moore and Jacob White (who started the second half in defence). Bere had a few chance in the second half mainly down to good work from Jacob White and Ellis Thorpe who didn’t stop running all game. Dorchester did manage to score what turned out to be the winner about 15 minutes into the second half with a low strike from just in side the box. Bere did have a good penalty appeal turned down in the last minute. The game finished 2-1 to Dorchester, but the Bere lads can hold their heads high as the push one of the best in the league all the way.

Scorer: Jacob Kennard

Man of the Match: Ellis Thorpe (midfielder didn’t stop running all game. He is fitting into the team very nicely)

29/11/09 - Under 11’s Corfe Mullen 1 Bere Regis 1

Wet doesn’t even start to describe the conditions for this game.

This game was going to be very interesting and good chance to see how far we have come over the post couple of weeks, since we lost 5-1 at home to Corfe in our first game of the season. Due to the driving rain and gale force winds most of game took place in the midfield with either team really able to dominate the match. Bere did mange to score first, the goal coming via Brad “Torres” Moss who scored with a good finish past the keeper. Corfe equalised just before half time after a great save from first half goal keeper Jacob Kennard fell to the feet of a Corfe player. Score at half time was 1-1.

As the second half started Bere managed to gain a grip on the game and managed to pile on the pressure creating a few good chances but some good goalkeeping and some last ditch defending from Corfe kept Bere at bay. All present were glad to hear the final whistle and get in from the rain, wind and cold. A good solid performance from Bere earn them a very good point away from home. Final score 1-1.

Goal Scorer: Brad Moss

Man of the Match: Alex “JT” Moore (defender marshalled the defence well in difficult conditions)

21 November 2009

Ringwood Town 3 Bere Regis 2

After two successive wins confidence was high in the team and with the signing of a new player Ellis Thorpe the team were looking to extend their record to three wins in a row.

A windy and cold Saturday morning in Ringwood started well with a few early chances, the wind playing a big part. Ringwood with the wind with them push for the first goal, however a strong defence marshalled by Alex “JT” Moore held firm, until an error from Bere lead to the first goal for Ringwood. Bere then pushed forward and Brad Moss scored a good goal after a fantastic pass that split the Ringwood defence in half from Josh “Kaka” Hamilton to make it 1-1. Ringwood scored about 10 minutes before half time from a corner after the Bere defence had a rare lack of concentration. So at half time the score was 2-1 to Ringwood.

The second half started well for Bere now with the wind on their side, we had 5 good chances to score but fail it seemed like it would be one of the days, however a good pass from Jacob Kennard set up Brad Moss to smack home the equaliser. With about 10 minutes to go another error by Bere lead to Ringwood scoring what would be the wining goal. Again Bere pushed on creating a number of chances but failed to score. Leaving the final score 3-2 to Ringwood. I would have liked to have seen the stats for the match, I think Ringwood only had 3 goal scoring chances in the whole game compared to Bere’s 10 plus. It was just one of those days!! Bere now need to pick themselves up and get back to winning ways in the next game away against Corfe Mullen.

Man of the Match – Alex Moore, worked hard and defended well the whole game.

Goal scorers: Brad Moss x2.

15-11-09

Bere Regis 4 Wool 3

Second win in a row for the under 11’s this weekend against Wool who we secured are first win of the season against last week.

The game started very well for Bere who started the strongest and physical dominated the first half. Bere scored first 10 minutes into the game, an Alex “JT” Moore corner that was met with a Jacob Kennard shot which was saved by the Wool goalkeeper then fell into the path of Joe “right place, right time” Brown who scored his first goal for Bere from a couple yards. Bere then push on and scored two more goals before half time. The two goals were truly great goals, one from Brad “Torres” Moss who turned and volleyed on a sixpence from outside the box and one from Jacob “Paul Scholes” Kennard who scored a screamer straight into the top corner from outside the box. This all meant that Bere went in at half time leading 3-0.

Wool came out in the second half fighting and piled pressure onto the Bere team, all the pressure finally lead to two well worked goals for Wool meaning the score was 3-2 with about 10 minutes to go. A lucky deflection led to Wool scoring the all important third goal leaving the score at 3-3 with 5 minutes to go. The boys didn’t let their heads go down and then a bit of space opened up in front of Jacob “Lucio” White who made a great run from centre back, almost the whole length of the pitch and then made a great passed to Brad Moss who score with a great finish under the out rushing Wool goalkeeper.

So it was 4-3 to Bere with 2 minutes to go and Bere were defending bravely. Wool had one final chance when the ball broke to a Wool player just three yards out however this was brilliantly save by Luke “Schmeichel” Selby-Grace who spread himself well to block the shot and secured the three points. The final whistle was finally blown and Bere had won a trilling local derby in front of a sell out crowd. Again as last week the whole Bere team played great and most importantly played as a team. In my option there were 9 men of the match today. Bere currently sit 7th in the table.

Man of the Match: Jacob Kennard – the midfielder controlled the game in the midfield of the pitch and work hard up and back all game and also scored a great goal.

Goal scorers: Joe Brown, Jacob Kennard and two from Brad Moss

Wool 1 Bere Regis 2

On a cold Sunday afternoon at Wool Rec Bere Regis under 11’s recorded their first win on the season (come to mention it their first win as a team).

The game started well for Bere with a few chance early on, Bere physically dominate the first half with Jacob White controlling the defence well with the help of all the players, the first half ended 0-0 thanks to a truly great save from goalkeeper Luke Selby-Grace.

The second half start like the first with most of game taking place in the middle of the pitch.  However Bere did take the lead 10 minutes into the second half with a great effort from Jacob Kennard striking the ball into the top corner from just outside the box. The Bere defence then held firm for the next 10 minutes as Wool pushed for an equaliser, great defending from Jacob “man mountain” White and Alex “JT” Moore plus help from all the players kept Wool out. A quick counter attack lead to a great volleyed goal from Will Murray from just inside the box meant the score was 2-0 to Bere. With 10 minutes left the whole Bere team defended with like their life’s depended on it. Wool did snatch a goal with 5 minutes to go and Wool had two more great chances to equalise.  However a super last ditch tackle from Jacob White on a wool player who was clean through and with the last kick of the ball a Wool free kick which look destined for the top corner was brilliantly tip onto the cross bar by goal keeper Luke meaning the final score was 2-1 to Bere.

A great performance by all. Finally everyone hard work and commitment has finally paid off.

Man of the Match: Jacob White – great physical strength and organized the defence well (this was a hard decision to make as all the boys played very well and all played their part in the game. In this game with had 11 Men of the Match)

Scorers: Jacob Kennard and Will Murray.

18/10/2009 Bere Regis 1 Poole Town 9

Scorer: Jacob Kennard

It was always going to be a tough game against the team top of the table.  However after a very impressive first half from Bere, who were physically strong then the Poole outfit meant that the score was 2-1 to Poole at half time,. The Bere was scored by Jacob Kennard with a low right foot strike from just inside the left hand side of the box.

It's true that football is a game of two half's, as the second half was something that the team will want to forget very quickly as the Poole side gained control of the game and score 7 goals in a 20 minutes spell. If Bere take their first half performance into the next game (away against Ringwood) Bere’s first win of the season could be just around the corner.

Man of the Match: Bradley Moss – the striker battled hard all game up front on this own.

11 October 2009 - Milborne Sports 3 Bere Regis 2

After a great effort by all the players and the best performance this season by far, we were on the wrong side of an undeserving 3-2 lose against local rivals Milborne in glorious settings at Milton Abbey. A great first half with a number of chances for Brad Moss and Jacob Kennard plus a couple of great saves by our goalkeeper Jacob "goalkeeping must be in the family" White meant it was 0-0 at half time.  A shocking referring decision (the Milborne player might as well have caught the ball) a few minutes into the second half lead to the first goal which in turn lead to a further two more goal as the boys heads went down after feeling very aggrieved by the decision.  However a super come back and great commitment and attitude earns us goals from Brad Moss and a magnificent long rang effort from keeper Jacob White meant the score was 3-2 with about 5 minutes to go. We had a number of chances to equalise but just failed to score that vital goal.

All the boys where very happy with the result, it was almost like we had won the game!!

Man of the Match: Joshua Hamilton – little midfielder had a great game playing the holding role in midfield.
