ROGS Reports for 2021 Season

From Captain Neil Middleditch

May –

After the somewhat biblical weather we had experienced at Wareham in previous weeks, the sun finally shone on the Rogs as we stepped onto to beautifully  manicured fairways and greens of Salisbury and South Wilts Golf club.

One thing during lockdown golf courses have had time for a great healing process and this showed the fairways were a delight as were the greens.

Great to properly catch up with fellow ROGS even if socially distant,it is all a bit strange at the moment but there hopefully is a light at the end of the tunnel.

The golf was as per normal ROGS form, being varying from PGA standard to Poole park crazy golf standard! but as normal a great day was had by all and the eventual winner was the young Brett Standerwick with a very impressive 40 points followed in closely by Matt March on 39 third spot was taken with 38 points by the ever improving Mr Russell French with whom  I played with on the day and have to say it was the best I have ever seen ‘Frenchie’ play.

Our top gust of the day was Paul Chesney on 35 points

The nearest the pin winners were Julian Flower and Matt March

Nearest the pin in 2 was Jon ‘Shimmo’Shimmons on the 14th

Longest Drive on the 10th was Harry Smith

And the twos comp saw Julian Flower,Jerry Cocking and Matt March take a share of the spoils.

The ROGS next outing is at Ashley Wood Blandford on the 25th of June where hopefully the weather gods will be kind once again.

Till next time
